A controversy surrounding Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has intensified after German model LizLaz alleged that certain journalists attempted to bribe her into making negative and false statements about the cricketer following a viral social media interaction.
The incident began when Kohli’s Instagram account was reported to have liked one of LizLaz’s posts. The activity quickly went viral due to Kohli’s massive global popularity and significant social media presence, triggering widespread online discussion and speculation.
Following the surge in attention, LizLaz stated during an interview with Filmymantra Media that several media representatives contacted her with attempts to influence her statements against Kohli. She alleged that she was offered money to fabricate claims about the Indian cricket star.
“Some journalists even offered me money to say bad things about him and make allegations he never made. But why would I do that?” she said during the interview.
LizLaz further clarified that Virat Kohli is her favourite cricketer and asserted that she had no intention of harming his public image for financial gain or publicity. She expressed surprise over the scale of attention the incident received and admitted that the sudden online reaction left her emotional after noticing Kohli’s interaction with her post.
“I was very happy and a little emotional about it, but I never expected something like this to happen,” she said.
She also described the growing media pressure as uncomfortable, stating that she was being urged to make statements she did not agree with. Despite these alleged attempts, LizLaz confirmed that she rejected all offers to spread false narratives about Kohli.
“So why would I say bad things about him for money? I am not that kind of person,” she stated.
Following the controversy, LizLaz was seen posting several images on social media in which she wore a Royal Challengers Bengaluru jersey, further drawing attention from fans and online communities.
